Skuodo pravoslavų cerkvė

Graži vieta, Klaipėdos apskritis

Orthodox worship in Skuodas began in a temporary prayer space set up in 1886 in a former manor building using state funds. The current Church of St. Alexander Nevsky, built on the manor grounds in 1905, was topped with five bronze-colored cupolas bearing Orthodox crosses and remained active until 1940, afterward used by Lutheran and Roman Catholic congregations during the occupation years. Damaged after the Soviet takeover in 1944, it lost its interior entirely, and in 1953 its remaining tower sections were demolished to make room for diesel generator equipment; after the generator was removed in 1991, the building was restored between 1993 and 1995. It has been a registered regional heritage object since 2014, though no active Orthodox community remains in the town today.
