Žiobrių kepimas ant laužo

Graži vieta, Tauragės apskritis

This authentic activity, holding a national intangible-heritage certificate, centers on one of the Jurbarkas region’s best-known traditions: roasting žiobriai, a local river fish, over an open fire. Participants watch the fish, skewered on a willow switch, being cooked over embers according to old fishermen’s customs preserved to this day, while hearing about the traditions of žiobriai fishing and their historical significance to the region, then taste the campfire-roasted fish themselves.
