Jurbarko dvaras

Graži vieta, Tauragės apskritis

Jurbarkas Manor dates to the 16th century, when it was held by Polish-Lithuanian queens including Bona Sforza and Anna and Cecilia Renata of Habsburg. Under Russian imperial rule it was given by Catherine II to her favorite Platon Zubov, and in 1846 passed to the Vasilchikov family, who built neoclassical mansions, administrative buildings, a church and a brick perimeter fence with iron gates. Damaged in WWI, the renovated southern administrative building of the complex now houses the Jurbarkas tourism and business information center, the northern building holds the Jurbarkas Regional Museum (since 1991), and other structures host the sculptor Vincas Grybas memorial museum; the grounds and park are open to the public at all times.
