Graži vieta, Marijampolės apskritis
Built in 1717 by Prienai district administrator Morkus Antanas Butleris, the Kvietiškis manor estate is where the city of Marijampolė itself began. French marshal Michel Ney reportedly stayed here in 1807, and on 22 April 1831 the grounds saw fighting during the Battle of Marijampolė between Lithuanian insurgents and Russian imperial troops. Today the park shelters lindens, maples, oaks, ashes and spruces alongside a protected old oak known as the Insurgents' Oak, while the restored 19th-century farm buildings now house a faculty of Marijampolė College.
