Palazduonio šventas spring

Graži vieta, LT

Palazduonys Spring (also known as Prizgintai Palazduonys Spring) flows in Palazduonys, Čekiškė eldership, Kaunas district, about 6.5 km southwest of Čekiškė. The earliest written record of the site dates to a 1935 Lithuanian place-name survey, where it was called Šulnėlis or Prizgintų šulnelis; ethnographer Balys Buračas collected data on it in 1936. The site has long been considered sacred, its water believed to have healing properties. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, a wooden chapel with a donation box stood here; tradition holds that the Virgin Mary appeared at the spot, so people would pray there, hang holy images, wash with and drink the spring water, and carry it home when ill.
