The first church at Butkiškės, a chapel of the Ariogala parish, was built in 1506. The exact age of the current wooden church is unknown, though local historians place it in the 18th or 19th century; it has a folk-architecture rectangular plan without a bell tower, though a separate two-story belfry stands beside it, and a low stone fence encloses the churchyard. Father Stanislovas (Antanas Marija Dobrovolskis) served as its pastor from 1962 to 1966.
