Memoriālais parks

Graži vieta, Kurzeme

The memorial park near Novadnieki, off highway P105 outside Saldus, is a German military cemetery that opened in 1997, after remains were reburied here starting in 1995 from cemeteries across Liepāja, Ventspils, Bauska, Dobele, Jelgava, Kuldīga, Talsi, Saldus and Tukums. About 25,000 German soldiers are buried across the roughly 8-hectare grounds, marked by granite crosses at a ratio of about one cross per four soldiers, with two-thirds of the graves identified. The German War Graves Commission (Volksbund Deutsche Kriegsgräberfürsorge) maintains the site, which is the largest German military cemetery in the Baltic states.
