Locals simply call it the city park, though its proper name is Kalnsētas parks, a landscape park laid out along the Ciecere River in the late 19th century by Baron von Recke of the nearby Kalnamuiža estate. Garden pavilions built in the 1920s were destroyed during the Second World War and never rebuilt, but the grounds still host summer concerts and the annual Saldus Saule rock festival on an open-air stage. A roughly 5-kilometer walking route, the Path of Art, Music and Love, winds past an artificial waterfall on the Ciecere and commemorates two Saldus natives: painter Jānis Rozentāls and musician Ēriks Ķiģelis.
