This old evangelical cemetery in Kelmė dates back to the 17th century, when the Reformation reached the town, first serving Reformed parishioners before becoming a shared burial ground for Reformed and Lutheran congregants alike. During the First World War, soldiers of the German and Russian empires were buried in its southwestern section: a granite monument topped with an eagle marks German soldiers who fell near the Dubysa River in 1915, alongside roughly 40 unidentified Russian soldiers. The cemetery was officially closed in the 1970s, and a cross today marks where it once stood.
