Kalvarijų Market

Graži vieta, Vilniaus apskritis

Kalvarijų Market has stood on this site since at least 1903, when the city plan first permitted a permanent market here. In the interwar period it was one of Vilnius's main markets; in the postwar Soviet years it was rebuilt with a brick perimeter fence, ornamental metal gates, and three large trading pavilions for meat, dairy, and produce - a recognised ensemble of Stalinist-era market architecture that is still in use today.
