Unveiled in 1934 to mark the 15th anniversary of Lithuanian independence, this monument by sculptor Vincas Grybas has become the symbol of Raseiniai. It shows a Samogitian peasant holding a bear, the emblem of the Žemaitija region, atop a pedestal with three bas-reliefs depicting the independence struggles and the return of the Klaipėda region to Lithuania.
