This 1.8-meter environmental sculpture stands on the bank of the Mēmele River beside a pedestrian bridge on Rīgas iela in Bauska, installed in late 2023. Sculptor Dāvis Valbaks designed it in 2020 during a joint workshop run by the Bauska Culture Centre and the Art Academy of Latvia, drawing on a local legend of a riverside tavern where log rafters gathered, marked by a sign showing a black rooster perched on a black ball. Built from foam treated with acrylic resin composite and fiberglass and mounted on a metal frame, the piece cost the Bauska municipal government just under 15,000 euros to produce and install.
