Due to the unique shape and location of the hill, Jāņas kalns has acquired the importance of an ancient place of worship, the discovery of which is still in the future and which gives substance to the versions of the visitors. Even at the beginning of the 20th century, the Ligo festival was celebrated in Jānis kalni.
