Liubavas is one of Lithuania's oldest manor estates, first held by state official Albertas Gostautas and later passed through the hands of Radziwill princes, the Tyszkiewicz counts and other noble families. Its watermill on the Zalesa stream, rebuilt in 1902 on the site of an earlier 18th-century mill, was restored in 2011 and turned into a working museum praised by Europa Nostra as an exemplary heritage project. Visitors can watch the mill machinery in action and see displays on woodworking, metalworking and other traditional crafts once powered by water; the museum keeps seasonal hours from mid-April to mid-October.
