Graži vieta, Vidzeme
Standing on the Atpiļi farmstead in Trikāta parish, part of today's Valmiera municipality, this oak has been called the Sacrificial Oak since ancient times and was entered onto Latvia's list of protected old trees in 1977. Its trunk measures about 8.03 meters in circumference, and researcher G. Eniņš dated it to roughly 400 years old in a 2008 publication. As late as the 1870s, local residents left coins, ribbons and small offerings at the tree, a practice tied to wider North Vidzeme traditions of venerating household spirits, and although most of the oak's large branches have since broken off, one still grows green and the tree remains alive.
