Standing beside the earthworks of the 7th-8th century Soontagana stronghold in Kurese, this 15-meter tower looks out over the Avaste bog and the heritage landscape of the former Maalinna soosaar bog island, which became a peninsula after 1920s drainage work. It marks a stop on the 6.3 km Soontagana-Kurese trail, and the site includes a rest area with shelters, fire places, and a well for visitors continuing on foot.
