Ariogalos (Čėkuvos) Manor

Graži vieta, Kauno apskritis

Ariogala (Čekuva) Manor traces back to a Grand Duke's estate in Vytautas's time, with the current palace linked to a 1640 date found during restoration work; the Blinstrubai and later the Šemeta family owned it until the estate was confiscated after two family members joined the 1863 uprising. After decades as a school and then a tuberculosis hospital, the manor was left to decay following independence and today stands as an atmospheric brick ruin rather than a restored site. It is an evocative stop for anyone interested in Lithuania's manor heritage, though visitors should expect a crumbling, unmaintained building rather than a museum.
