Tiguļkalns

Graži vieta, Kurzeme

Tiguļkalns is the highest of Talsi's nine hills, rising to 105 meters above sea level and crowned with a circle of oak trees. At its base is a dendrological park first planted around 140 years ago, now home to more than 300 tree species including roughly 20 century-old specimens, next to the former Villa Hochheim, a neoclassical manor built in 1883-1885 for Baron von Firks of Okte that now houses the Talsi District Museum. Since 2012 the hill has also hosted an annual free open-air concert organized by Talsi-born composer Raimonds Tiguls.
