Rudaminos piliakalnis is a hillfort with an adjoining ancient settlement about 1 km south of Rudamina, built on a hill rising to 195 meters above sea level on the former shore of a lake. Its oblong platform measures 51 by 75 meters and is ringed by an earthen rampart 2 to 3 meters high and 10 to 16 meters wide, with the surrounding settlement site covering about 4 hectares. It is one of the most significant Jotvingian monuments in the Užnemunė region; excavations have uncovered arrowheads, fibulae, rings, pendants, charred grain and ceramics. According to a legend recorded by 19th and early 20th century historians, Duke Ringaudas built a castle here in 1240, which the Teutonic Order later destroyed in 1381.
