Storiausia Lietuvos eglė

Graži vieta, Telšių apskritis

Growing in Renavo manor park on the bank of the Varduva River, this common spruce holds the record for the thickest spruce trunk in Lithuania, measuring roughly 3.9 meters in circumference at breast height and standing about 36.5 meters tall. Estimated at around 150 years old, it was declared a protected natural heritage object in 1960 and given republican-monument status in 1987. The tree survived a 1994 bark beetle infestation that killed many neighboring spruces, though its bark still bears the insects’ tunnel scars, and in December 2024 it was voted Lithuania’s most interesting protected spruce among five state-protected specimens.
