This monument to poet Antanas Baranauskas by sculptor V. Žuklys was unveiled on June 17, 1967 near St. Michael the Archangel Church in Rumšiškės. It commemorates the years 1851-1853 he spent studying at the district clerk's school here, where he wrote his first twenty poems. The school was later renamed in his honor, and today continues as Rumšiškės Antanas Baranauskas Gymnasium.
