Esplanāde is a 4-hectare recreation park in Daugavpils built around what's billed as the Baltics' first velodrome-style bike park, with a reinforced-concrete skatepark, an asphalt cycling track with graded difficulty sections including jumps and curves, a gentler children's cycling area, and room for eight kinds of wheeled transport from BMX to longboards and scooters. Away from the wheels, a separate 1.5 km boardwalk trail crosses a bog with observation platforms for wildlife viewing, and the park also has an outdoor stage (the Music Square) used for summer events.
