Veliuona spring is a falling spring of erosive origin, located in Jurbarkas district, Veliuona town. The spring gushes at the bottom of a deep ravine on the upland slope of the right bank of the Nemunas and is surrounded by old local stories. It is worth knowing: A well of reinforced concrete rings is installed for the catchment of the spring, from which the water flows in a single stream towards the Nemunas. Ancient legends mention that fairies used to wash in this place, and the water is traditionally considered to heal the eyes. An increased concentration of nitrates is recorded in the water due to the economic activities carried out above and the vegetables.
