Pūsēnu kalna taka

Žygis, Kurzeme

A stairway and walking trail climb to the top of Pūsēnu kalns, a 37-metre coastal dune between the villages of Bernāti and Jūrmalciems in Nīca parish, considered one of the highest dunes in Latvia. The dune took shape between 1785 and 1835 as drifting sand buried roughly eighty farmsteads, including the homestead called Pūsēni that gave the hill its name. Now stabilized by pine forest and protected within Bernātu Nature Park, it rewards the climb with views over the Baltic Sea and the surrounding woodland.
