Officially the public oratory of Our Lady of the Gate of Dawn, this reinforced-concrete church in Palendriai, designed by architect Vladas Bitė and built starting in 1935, was consecrated in 1938 and served the Kelmė parish. Priest and patron Kazimieras Ambrozaitis had it built in a modernist Baroque style, considered one of the most interesting examples of pre-war reinforced-concrete architecture in Lithuania. Since a new Benedictine convent church opened nearby in 2002, the original building has stood disused, its windows now boarded up.
