Marijampolė's officially designated nudist beach lies on the bank of the Šešupė River within the city and has operated since 2021. Its legalization followed Lithuania's first modern official nudist beach at Valakampiai in Vilnius, which opened a year earlier in 2020, and preceded further openings such as Juodkrantė's later the same year. As a formally sanctioned site rather than an informally tolerated one, it gives naturists legal standing to bathe there openly.
