Juozapinė Hill

Apžvalgos vieta, Vilniaus apskritis

Rising to roughly 293.6 meters within the Medininkai Highlands near the Belarusian border, about a kilometer southwest of Medininkai, this hill was long regarded as Lithuania's highest point before 2004 GPS surveying by Vilnius Gediminas Technical University showed the neighboring Aukštojas hill to be about a meter taller. A 1.8-meter memorial stone honoring Lithuanian King Mindaugas, carved with a lily-shaped crown, has stood on its summit since 1990. The hill lies within the protected Juozapinė geomorphological reserve and is reached via marked paths with benches, parking and information signs.
