At the end of a 700 meter chestnut tree avenue in Biliūnai stands a "Love Tree" where couples come during the chestnut blossom season to attach padlocks as a token of lasting commitment. The spot is part of the whimsical local "Chestnut Republic," complete with its own president, citizens, flag, anthem and currency.
