Aukštaitija narrow gauge railway

Graži vieta, Panevėžio apskritis

Known as Siaurukas, this 750 mm narrow gauge railway has run between Panevėžys and Rubikiai since 1899, passing through Taruškas, Raguvėlė, Surdegis, Troškūnai, Anykščiai and Bičionis, and today its roughly 68 km track is the longest and only operating historic narrow gauge line in the Baltics. Visitors can ride scheduled trains and themed excursions, including holiday specials and scenic trips paired with a sauna and log cabin, or book custom group journeys. A dedicated museum in Anykščiai preserves the line's history, and a heritage steam locomotive, KP4-708, is kept in operation for special runs; in 2024 the railway carried nearly 26,000 passengers over 887 journeys.
