Graži vieta, Panevėžio apskritis
Panevėžys Cathedral (Church of Christ the King) is a basilica-form neobaroque and neoclassical building measuring 55 by 27 metres with a single reinforced-concrete tower, designed by architect Romanas Steikūnas with engineer Aleksandras Gordevičius. Construction began in 1908 as a planned parish church of St. Stanislaus but stalled for years; when the Panevėžys Diocese was created in 1926 the unfinished building was designated its cathedral, completed with neobaroque features, and consecrated on 4 March 1930 by prelate Jonas Mačiulis-Maironis. Its facade bears three-metre sculptures of Pope Pius XI and Archbishop Jurgis Matulaitis-Matulevičius, and inside, three vaulted aisles decorated by artist Povilas Puzinas lead to a main altar with a Christ the King statue by sculptor Juozas Zikaras.
