The mound of pipes rises on a cliff on the left bank of the Nemunas, near the Kačerginė forest, in front of the Nevėžio estuary. It dates back to the 1st millennium, and some historians associate it with the legendary name of Pilėnai Castle, which was destroyed by the Crusaders in 1336, and the folk tradition says that it was poured by a duke who lost his son. Accessed by stairs, the site of the barrow offers a view of the Nemunas and the towers of the Raudondvaris church on the other side of the river.
