Onuškis Manor

Graži vieta, Panevėžio apskritis

First recorded in 1529, this estate near Rokiškis passed through the Rajeckis, then Mlečka and Kaminskis families before Juozapas Komaras acquired it around 1800; his son Teofilis Komaras then built the late-Classicist palace that survives today, attributed to architect Cezaris Anikinis and originally fronted by an eleven-column facade facing the park. The manor house burned during the First World War and its lands were parcelled out in the 1922 land reform, leaving a ruin still regarded as one of Lithuania's finest examples of late-Classicist manor architecture. Its English-style park retains two ponds and more than 21 tree and shrub species, including European larches and a twin-trunked Weymouth pine.
