Šilėnai Mythological Spring flows on the bank of the Neris river in the village of Šilėnai, Vilnius district, and has long been considered sacred and healing. Local legends say its water cures wounds, dislocations and toothache - one story tells of a girl with painful legs who healed after walking around the spring collecting stones. Residents used to wash with its water on Maundy Thursday, before sunrise. The spring's water is remarkably clear - tests show its quality well exceeds drinking-water standards.
