Running about one kilometre along the Pededze River in Jaunanna, this trail in Alūksnes novads leads from Zaķu sala (Hare Island) to the Jaunanna hunting castle, built in 1905 and now a state-protected architectural monument. Beaver-gnawed trees mark the route at intervals, interspersed with wooden forest-art figures such as a fox and an owl. Because the riverbanks here are steep, beaver dams do not flood the surrounding land, leaving the area’s biodiversity largely undisturbed by other human activity.
