Raunas viduslaiku pilsdrupu skatu tornis

Apžvalgos vieta, Vidzeme

The ruins of a medieval stone castle begun around 1262 under Riga archbishop Albert II Suerbeer, which grew into one of the largest and most heavily fortified castles of the Archbishopric of Riga (later known as Roneburg) and was substantially rebuilt under Archbishop Jasper Linde by 1524. The ruins, in the town of Rauna, are now the centrepiece of the 'Rauna Castle history trail' with 5 km and 17 km circular walking routes and an audio guide, and an observation tower built into the ruin complex gives panoramic views over the surrounding valley.
