A roughly 3.65-kilometer forest trail circles Egļukalns hill, at 220 meters the highest point of the Augšzeme uplands, inside Svente Nature Park near Kalnāji in Sventes pagasts. Along the route, marked with two-color paint flags on trees, walkers pass deep ravines, small lakes, moss-covered boulders, old oaks, and remnants of World War I trench lines. The hill's former viewing tower has since been dismantled and the adjoining picnic area has grown over with nettles, so the trail today is better suited to a forest walk than a full day-trip stop.
