This roughly one-kilometer circular trail loops through Tempļakalna Park on the shore of Lake Alūksne, starting near the pedestrian bridge on Tempļakalna iela. Wooden steps and handrails carry walkers across the Veļu grava ravine on the way up to the hilltop, where the Slavas templis rotunda opens onto views of Lake Alūksne, Pilssala island and the manor park below. Tempļa kalns itself is a protected archaeological site, settled by ancient Latgalians between the 9th and 13th centuries, and the trail runs alongside Latvia's 37.8-meter Alūksne observation tower.
