Meņģeles skatu tornis

Apžvalgos vieta, Vidzeme

Standing on the old bank of the Ogre River near the writer's childhood home 'Zvaniņi,' this wooden viewing tower occupies the site of a fire lookout that stood there in the 1960s-70s and now marks the boundary between Meņģele and Taurupe parishes. Poet Imants Ziedonis and his collaborators linked the tower to the nearby Dullais Dauka nature trail, a path marked with inscribed stones inspired by the folk character's musings on the horizon and the shape of the earth. Visitors climb the tower for views over the Ogre valley on both sides of the parish border.
