Kiaunorių dvaras

Graži vieta, Šiaulių apskritis

In the 17th century Kiaunoriai belonged to the related Gruzdys and Kiaunarskiai families. The manor's surviving wooden buildings were put up around 1851 by Ksaverijus Jonas Euzebijus Kiaunarskis, and the estate, which once included a windmill, a distillery and a chapel, stayed in the Kiaunarskiai family until it was confiscated in 1940. After the war the manor housed a school, its rooms subdivided and some used as teachers' residences. The main building's ornate double doors still open onto a vestibule, and the structure rests on elevated masonry foundations with brick-lined basement openings, retaining many original details: windows, doors, wall finishes and cornices.
