Akmenų rūžos nature trail

Žygis, Šiaulių apskritis

This 1.65 kilometer educational trail runs through Užpelkė forest near Kiaunoriai in Kelmė district, following terrace ridges called akmenų rūžos that formed roughly 10,000 to 14,000 years ago as glaciers retreated. In places the boulder density reaches around 30 large stones per 16 square meters. Information boards along the route explain how the boulders and ridges formed and how people have used stones from ancient times to today, and the path includes replica mythological stones and pieces by stone carvers. The route ends at a tightly looped ridge formation enclosing an old homestead site, with content also available through a dedicated audio guide app.
