This granite-and-stainless-steel sculpture "Mitra" by sculptor Vilmantas Balynas, created during the September 2024 Zauliškiai sculptors' plein-air event, commemorates Juozapas Kukta, the first Bishop of Kaišiadorys (born February 3, 1873 in Trakiniai village, Anykščiai district; died June 16, 1942, buried in the crypt of Kaišiadorys Cathedral). Ordained in 1898, he was imprisoned by Polish occupation authorities in Vilnius's Lukiškės prison in January 1922 and exiled to independent Lithuania, where he administered the remaining Lithuanian part of the Vilnius diocese, founded the Kaišiadorys curia in 1925, oversaw completion of the church that later became Kaišiadorys Cathedral, and was consecrated Bishop of the newly created Kaišiadorys diocese on May 1, 1926 by Pope Pius XI.
