Graži vieta, Šiaulių apskritis
Rising between the Kražantė River, Lake Dausynas and Medžiokalnis hill, this site in Kražiai has archaeological significance reaching back 4,000 years and once held a 12th century military stronghold. Grand Duke Vytautas is said to have commissioned one of Žemaitija's first Christian churches here; rebuilt five times after repeated fires, it was never restored following the last fire on June 25, 1941. Visitors today climb 50 stone steps to a brick bell tower built around 1852 from the materials of the crumbling Jesuit church that once stood nearby.
