Apžvalgos vieta, Marijampolės apskritis
This point on the Nemunas riverbank looks across the water at Panemunė (Vytėnai) Castle in Jurbarkas district. The site was first fortified in 1313 under the Teutonic Order; the surviving brick residential castle was built in 1604-1610 for Hungarian nobleman János Eperjes, designed by Dutch architect Peter Nonhardt in a Renaissance/Late Gothic style with defensive corner towers. It is now owned by the Vilnius Academy of Arts and used as a museum and student exhibition space.
