Graži vieta, Kauno apskritis
The Ninth Fort is part of the Kaunas Fortress, built in the late 19th century under the Russian Empire. During World War II, Nazi Germany's occupation authorities turned it into a site of mass execution, where tens of thousands of people were killed - Jews from the Kaunas ghetto and prisoners brought from other European countries. Today the fort houses a memorial museum, with a monumental sculpture nearby dedicated to the victims. The site is part of the M.K. Čiurlionis National Museum of Art.
