It is a part of the stretch of sand dunes running across the entire Curonian Spit - the Great Dune Ridge. Angiu Kalnas acquired its current appearance in the 19th century. at the end, after replanting this and the adjacent dunes and thus stopping the blowing of sand: 1872-75.
