The Calf Mound (also called the Lampėdžii Mound) stands on a steep promontory of the Nemunas bank in Vilijampole, on the outskirts of Kaunas. Archaeological findings testify that people lived here since the 1st millennium BC. Cr. until the 14th century, when the wooden castle standing here was destroyed in the battles with the Crusaders. The slopes of the mound rise steeply for about 37 meters, and from the top there is a view of Lake Lampėdis and the wooded river bank.
