The historic core of Ylakiai follows a radial street plan shaped by Židikai, Dariaus ir Girėno, Šačiai and Seda streets converging on an irregularly shaped central square, lined with one- and two-story wooden and brick buildings with characteristic facades, windows and mansard roofs. It is registered in Lithuania's immovable cultural heritage registry.
