Ariogalos Šv. Arkangelo Mykolo bažnyčia

Graži vieta, Kauno apskritis

A wooden church first stood on this site from around 1416, founded at the initiative of Grand Duke Vytautas, but it burned down repeatedly over the centuries, including a fire in 1915 that destroyed the building entirely. Parish priest Antanas Simanavičius led the effort to erect the current brick church between 1926 and 1939, funded largely by parishioner donations, and it was consecrated by Kaunas Archbishop Juozapas Skvireckas. The building combines neoclassical and neo-baroque architectural elements and still serves as the parish church at D. Rudzinsko g. 2, Ariogala.
