Ādolfa Liepaskalna piemiņas akmens

Graži vieta, Vidzeme

This memorial stone honors Ādolfs Liepaskalns (1910-1972), a Latvian race walker who set world records over 25 km and 30 km in 1938 and also held Latvian and Soviet-era records during his career. It stands near the Liepaskalns family homestead in Karva village, Alsviķi parish, where the athlete lived and trained after starting his competitive career at the Karva stadium in 1934. Sculptor Ainārs Zelts created the stone, which carries a carved portrait of Liepaskalns, and it was unveiled in 1986.
