Veldze krioklys

Krioklys, Kurzeme

Veldze waterfall drops about 0.8 to 0.9 meters across a width of roughly 11 to 16 meters, where the small Veldze stream passes through Rumba parish shortly before joining the Riežupe river. It lies close to the Kandava-Kuldīga road, reachable on foot by crossing a meadow and following the stream until the falls become audible. The site is markedly seasonal: in summer the stream can nearly dry up, and since it flows through farmland the rocks are sometimes coated in algae, while in autumn debris tends to collect in the streambed nearby. It remains a locally noted natural landmark in Kuldīga municipality despite these fluctuations.
